Dr. Yasmeen Ganie is an experienced Consultant Pediatric Endocrinologist with more than two decades of clinical, academic, and leadership experience in Pediatric endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolic disorders. She currently serves as a Consultant Pediatric Endocrinologist at Burjeel Medical City, Abu Dhabi, UAE, where she provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for children and adolescents with complex endocrine and metabolic conditions. Dr. Yasmeen Ganie completed her medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Natal and subsequently obtained specialist qualifications in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology through the College of Medicine of South Africa, including the Fellowship of the College of Pediatricians [FC Paed] and Fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology [FC Paed Endo]. She further advanced her academic career by earning a PhD in Pediatrics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2019. Prior to joining Burjeel Medical City, Dr. Yasmeen Ganie served as Head of Department and Consultant Pediatric Endocrinologist at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, Durban, South Africa, where she led the Pediatric Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolic Services. She has also worked as a Consultant Pediatric Endocrinologist at NovaVita Specialised Pediatric Hospital in Abu Dhabi and maintained an active private practice at Ahmed Al-Kadi Private Hospital in Durban. Her subspecialty training includes advanced pediatric endocrinology and diabetes training at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital and the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. Her areas of expertise include growth disorders, puberty disorders, thyroid and adrenal diseases, disorders of sex development, childhood obesity, metabolic bone disease, and Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes management. Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Yasmeen Ganie has made substantial contributions to medical education and specialist training. She served as an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health at the Nelson Mandela School of Medicine, University of KwaZulu-Natal, where she was involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, examination, and specialist training. She also played a key role in Pediatric endocrinology subspecialty education through the College of Medicine of South Africa, serving as a convener, examiner, and moderator for the Certificate in Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolic Disease. Dr. Yasmeen Ganie is committed to advancing Pediatric endocrine care through research, education, and multidisciplinary collaboration. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in the fields of childhood obesity, disorders of sex development, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, type 1 diabetes, coeliac disease, and metabolic bone disorders. She is also recognized for her contributions to diabetes education initiatives for healthcare professionals, teachers, school nurses, patients, and families.
