Rakeshkumar Shah

Dr. Rakeshkumar Shah is a Senior Clinical Pathologist with experience in establishing and managing clinical laboratories of international standards. He worked as a Medical Science Teacher and mentored many undergraduate pathologists to successful qualifications. He worked for Apollo Hospitals as a Clinical Pathologist and made outstanding contributions to comprehensive blood cancer-related clinical pathology. He was also instrumental in implementing this hospital’s advanced hematology testing facility. The milestones in Dr. Shah’s career include a stint at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, after which he relocated to the UAE to join VPS Healthcare. As a Consultant/Specialist in Clinical Pathology, Dr. Shah has been with Burjeel Holdings for the past eight years. Under his watch, the group ensures the all-around efficiency and quality of services at the pathology labs and departments across the Burjeel Hospital network. The major contributions of Dr. Shah at Burjeel include upgrading pathology services, consolidated laboratory automation, algorithm-based testing and diagnosis, evidence-based guidance for lab tests, and the accreditations received from international standards organizations, to mention a few. Outside of working hours, Dr. Rakeshkumar has been actively participating in the continuation of medical education, has attended several conferences, met as a speaker and panel discussion expert, and has also chaired discussions at these workshops. Dr. Shah is a recipient of the ‘Unsung Hero Award’ from Burjeel Holdings.

Mohit Rajpal

Dr. Mohit Rajpal has 8 years of Pathology experience with special interest in Surgical Pathology and Oncopathology. He completed 1 year of Fellowship in Oncopathology from Prestigious Tata Memorial Centre Unit located in Punjab in 2021 where he developed sound training of grossing and reporting of complex oncology specimens, immunohistochemistry, frozen section evaluations, cytology and immunocytochemistry. He also has experience of clinical pathology, hematology and special hematology.

Before joining Burjeel Medical City, Abu Dhabi, Dr. Mohit Rajpal was Associate Pathologist at American Hospital, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and had been managing surgical pathology, oncopathology, frozen sections, grossing of specimens, rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE), and attending tumor boards.

Qaiser Zaman

Dr. Qaiser Zaman is a Pediatric Specialist. He has completed his medical education from Romania and further completed his training in pediatrics and neonatology at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad, Pakistan. He has 15 years of clinical experience in pediatrics and neonatology. His areas of interest include prevention of communicable illnesses in children, physical and psychological well-being of children, growth and development of children, avoidance of malnutrition and poor nutrition in children. Prior to joining Burjeel Medical City, he has worked with various government and private sectors institutions in Pakistan. He has been involved in teaching of junior doctors and worked in medical research.

Sushil Kumar Murali

Dr. Sushil Kumar Murali is an accomplished Consultant Pediatrician with more than 18 years of experience in multi-disciplinary, tertiary hospitals in India and the Middle East. In the early part of his career, after graduation and post-graduation in medical science with specialization in pediatric neonatology, Dr Kumar worked in two leading hospitals in India as Senior Resident and Consultant and gained much experience and specialization. An expert in the management of critical and complex cases of pediatric-neonatology, especially emergencies, Dr. Kumar was selected to work abroad, and he re-located to Kuwait and Abu Dhabi. Over the next 11 years he was engaged as Pediatric Registrar, Senior Registrar, Pediatric Neonatology and Specialist Pediatrician Neonatologist, and worked for three industry-reputed multi-disciplinary, tertiary hospitals in the region. A Member of Medical Council of India and certified by the Department of Health, UAE, Dr. Kumar joins Burjeel Medical City as Specialist Pediatrician with his focus on neonatal intensive care and interventions.

Naveed Pasha

Dr. Pasha has experience ofover 16 years as Orthopaedic Surgeon. His areas of expertise are polytrauma, open fractures and crush injuries and General Orthopaedics. Before joining Burjeel Medical City Dr. Pasha’s immediate previous posting was at Tawam Hospital, Al Ain. Dr. Pasha gained his experience in fracture and soft tissue management in plastic, reconstructive and microvascular surgery department at Manipal Hospital, Bangalore

Seema Oommen

Dr. Seema Oommen was awarded a Gold Medal for her research paper, “Nosocomial Infections in the Intensive Pediatric Care Unit.” The medal was presented to her at the 39th National Conference of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Oommen’s other accolades have been added to her as a natural result of her two-decades-long career. She is a Life Member of the Royal College of Pathologists in London, the Indian Association of Microbiologists, the Academy of Clinical Microbiologists in India, the Hospital Infection Society in India, and the Indian Medical Association. Dr. Seema Oommen has been a dedicated microbiology scholar and author in her profession throughout her career. She was respected as an effective PhD. and MD Guide to MD Microbiology post-graduates and research scholars in the microbiology department as a Professor and Head of the Department (Microbiology) at Pushpa Giri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, a 1200-bed tertiary medical college hospital. Dr. Oommen has forty-four papers in peer-reviewed journals and created a chapter titled “Emerging Respiratory Pandemics” in the textbook “Clinical Pathways in Emergency Medicine” (Springer Link., 2016). Aside from the preceding, Dr. Seema Oommen has acquired additional training in the following certifications: In Dubai, UAE, she was awarded Medical Laboratories Accreditation, ISO 15189:2012 Awareness, and Internal Audit. JIPMER, India; Manipal Centre for Virus Research Certification in Basics of PCR Techniques; PD Hinduja Hospital Certification in Infectious Disease Certificate Course (IDCC); Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India Certification in Radioimmunoassay (RIA) Techniques and Clinical Applications Dr. Oommen, a fluent communicator in English, Hindi, Marathi, and Malayalam, works as a Specialist Medical Microbiologist at Burjeel Medical City in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and finds time to pursue her keen interests in antimicrobial resistance, tuberculosis, and other infectious diseases at the hospital and research center. Dr. Seema Oommen has over 70 peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals, with topics spanning antimicrobial resistance, diagnostic microbiology, infectious diseases, tuberculosis, viral infections, hospital infection control, and clinical microbiology techniques.

Ahmed Taher Elsheikh

Dr. Ahmed Elsheikh is a Pediatric Specialist with more than 10 years of work in Egypt, Kuwait university hospital MAKH PICU, and UAE. He received his Master’s degree in pediatric medicine from Benha University, Egypt and Bachelor’s in medicine and surgery from Mansoura University, Egypt. His main area of focus includes PICU, general pediatric and pediatric emergency and experience with management of DKA, status asthmatics, mechanical ventilation patients with high skills in PICU manoeuvre.

Deena Yasir Hussein Omar

Dr. Deena Yasir served at the Ribat University Hospital for her Residency Internship and was attached to Primary Care Unit in Al-Taabat Prison for post-residency practical assignment where she was responsible for the medical records documentation and other assignments in the pediatric surgery department. She also worked on the fluid and electrolytes therapy, pediatric surgery, pediatric ER, and related interventions during her tenure. In addition, Dr Deena underwent the training in the hospital’s Covid-19 Isolation Center which is a section directly under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Health. Dr. Deena Yasir became professionally experienced in addressing cases related to obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, general surgery and pediatrics at Ibrahim Malik Hospital and Om Dawan Ban Hospital. During the tenure in these hospitals in Sudan, she attended a symposium on sepsis awareness and operated as a Member in a medical mission to the rural area initiated by the Haj Al-Safe Hospital.

Ashraf Mahjoub Ibrahim Nemir

Dr. Ashraf Mahjoub Ibrahim Nemir is a General Practitioner (ER) with vast years of experience. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Science and Technology, Sudan. He was Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine Resident for five years in Saudi Arabia in King Khalid Hospital. In addition, he also pursued Basic Life Support (BLS) Course and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification course. In the UAE, he worked for one year as a General Practitioner for ADNOC Onshore Clinic. He gained experience of carefully diagnosing and treating patients with conditions such as COVID-19. He then started his practice in Mediq and Tamouh Healthcare’s Mafraq Field Hospital, where he worked for one year as General Practitioner in HDU unit for COVID 19 patients. In September 2021 he was titled as Medical Director of Mafraq field hospital. Dr. Ashraf holds several professional licenses including HAAD license, MOH UAE license and the Medical Resident Saudi license. He is also qualified for Step 1 of United Stated Medical Licensing.

Shaza Mohamed Osman Abbas

Dr. Shaza Mohamed Osman Abbas is a Specialist Pediatrics with over seven years of work experience in different facilities in UAE. She received her Bachelor’s degree of medicine and surgery from Khartoum University, Sudan. She holds the MRCPCH from Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health, UK. Her area of interest includes taking care of patients in trauma and emergency situations and serious conditions in addition to treating patients with stable conditions particularly in children, management of acute asthma, respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses, and acute conditions.
