Biography
Dr. Bashirat L. Giwa is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases with American Board certifications in Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine, and she has over 10 years of experience in general infectious disease practice and managing complex infections in adult patients. She specializes in comprehensive treatment planning, antimicrobial stewardship, infection control, and public health initiatives, with a strong focus on improving patient outcomes. Dr. Giwa has worked in leading institutions in the US and UAE, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and leading infection control committees. She is passionate about the implementation of research and utilizes evidence-based practice in achieving a patient-centered approach to delivering high-quality care. She was recently elected Fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America (FIDSA) in 2025, and previously elected Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) in 2020. She also has memberships of infectious diseases societies in the USA, Europe and UAE.
