Biography
Dr. A. Olithselvan is a highly experienced Consultant Hepatologist and Gastroenterologist with over 25 years of expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex liver and gastrointestinal diseases. He holds an MBBS, MD, MRCP (UK), and UK CCT accreditation in General Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Hepatology. He completed his advanced specialist training at the prestigious University of Leeds through the Yorkshire rotation programme in the United Kingdom. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Olithselvan has developed extensive expertise in advanced hepatology, liver intensive care, and liver transplantation. He has managed complex tertiary-level liver disease cases and has played a key role in both living donor and deceased donor liver transplant programmes across the NHS and leading international healthcare institutions. His clinical practice includes conducting high-volume hepatology clinics, performing FibroScan assessments for liver disease evaluation, and carrying out advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures for gastrointestinal bleeding, including variceal glue injection. His comprehensive approach to patient care ensures optimal outcomes for individuals with acute and chronic liver conditions. Dr. Olithselvan has held several leadership positions, including serving as Director of Liver Transplant Programmes, where he successfully established innovative “spoke-and-hub” transplant care models to improve patient access and outcomes. He has also served as Vice-President of the Liver Transplant Society of India, contributing significantly to the advancement of liver transplantation services and clinical standards. In addition to his clinical and leadership roles, Dr. Olithselvan is actively involved in medical education and academic development. He serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School, where he is committed to postgraduate teaching and mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals.
