Dr. Ujjwal Deshmukh has more than 12 years of experience in the field of critical care medicine. He has completed his MBBS and MD from a reputed medical college from Pune India (BJ Medical college). He has pursued Diploma in critical care medicine followed by fellowship in critical medicine from quaternary care center from Pune ( Apollo hospital). He was a postgraduate teacher for DNB programme in India and have trained many students in the field of critical care medicine. He holds a considerable experience in ECMO for both VVECMO and VAECMO. He has experience in managing solid organ transplant patients in ICU including Liver, Renal and Uterine transplant. He was a team member of India’s first uterine transplant program and till date completed 8 transplants. He is an ACLS instructor since 2016. He is expert in managing all the invasive and non-invasive procedures to be done in ICU. He has worked as Specialist in critical care medicine in Quaternary centre in Pune, India.

Horace Roman

Horace Roman is surgeon of endometriosis at Institut Franco-Européen Muntidisciplinaire d’Endométriose (IFEMEndo, Franco-European Multidisciplinary Institute for Endometriosis) in Bordeaux, France and Honorary Professor at Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark. He is a former Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Rouen Medical University in France. He is one of the rare surgeons worldwide whose surgical activity has been exclusively reserved for endometriosis for more than ten years. His practice and clinical research focus on the surgical management of patients with deep endometriosis. He has published more than 190 scientific articles related to various surgical approaches and the probability of postoperative natural conception following surgery for deep and ovarian endometriosis. Since 2005, he has managed more than 1,400 patients with deep endometriosis infiltrating the digestive tract, more than 250 with endometriosis of the urinary tract, more than 120 with involvement of sacral plexus or sciatic nerves, and 70 with endometriosis of the diaphragm. He privileges conservative procedures in deep endometriosis of the rectum and performed more than 450 rectal disc excisions. His approach to ovarian endometriomas is based on the ablation of the cyst’s inner surface using plasma energy to preserve ovarian parenchyma and ovarian reserve. He performed the ENDORE, the unique randomized trial comparing radical and conservative surgery for colorectal endometriosis. He was conducting the MESURE randomized trial comparing medical and surgical management for rectal endometriosis. He edited the EFFORT randomized trial protocol comparing first-line surgery to first-line IVF in women with colorectal endometriosis and pregnancy intention. He is a member of the boards of the European Endometriosis League, the World Endometriosis Society, and the French Society of Gynecologic and Pelvic Surgery. He is responsible for the Surgical Task Force of the Society of Endometriosis and Uterine Diseases. He founded with Dr. Benjamin Merlot and Dr. Isabella Chanavaz-Lacheray the IFEMEndo in Bordeaux, among the 2 European centers with the highest surgical volume for complex endometriosis. He recently founded with Dr. Monica Chauhan, Dr. Sandesh Kade, and Dr. Benjamin Merlot the IFEMEndo-Middle East Clinic, a Burjeel Holdings Company, in Abu Dhabi, a department exclusively dedicated to the management of severe endometriosis. He is certified Master Surgeon in Multidisciplinary Endometriosis Care, and IFEMEndo was certified Center of Excellence in Multidisciplinary Endometriosis Care (COEMEC, 2019-2026). He exclusively performs minimally invasive surgery by laparoscopy with or without robotic assistance (One open surgery from 2018 to 2023). Frea Ramzi Perdawood

Dr. Frea Perdawood is a double board-certified Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgeon. She performs all aspects of breast cancer, cosmetic, and implant-based reconstruction surgery. Dr. Frea has more than 27 years of experience as a physician. She completed her academic degree (MD) in Denmark and then obtained the Danish Board in General and Breast Surgery in Copenhagen, Denmark. She obtained the certificate of completion of specialty in breast oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery training from the Danish Breast Surgical Association (DBKS). She later obtained the European Board of Breast Surgery/UEMS, the European Union of Medical Specialists, Bruxelles, Belgium. As a part of her training program, she went for an oncoplastic breast fellowship at the Plastic and Breast Surgical Department, Odense University Hospital (OUH), a tertiary high specialized department, and the Plastic and Breast Surgical Clinic, Rigshospitalet (The Royal Danish Hospital), Copenhagen, Denmark, the largest and highest technical center in Denmark and one of the most highly specialized hospitals in Europe. Humaid Obaid Bin Harmal Al Shamsi

Prof. Humaid Al Shamsi is the Founder and Director of the Medical Oncology Service at Burjeel Medical City. He is a renowned doctor with rich experience in the field of Oncology. He also extends his service as the President of the Emirates Oncology Society and Adjunct Clinical Professor of Oncology at the College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah. He is pioneering the UAE Oncology field to provide the best cancer care for the UAE and the region. He earned his medical degree from the University of Cork – The National University of Ireland in 2005 with honors. He then completed his training in Internal Medicine Residency at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. He also completed Fellowship advanced training program in general oncology followed by gastrointestinal oncology and palliative care. After that, he joined MD Anderson Cancer Centre – at the University of Texas as an Assistant Professor in the Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology department from June 2014- Dec 2016. Another feather adding to his achievements is that he is the first graduate of the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed (President of the UAE) program for outstanding UAE Physicians training program in 2016. Prof. Humaid holds board certification from the USA, Canada, and the UK for medical oncology and internal medicine. He is recognized as the only certified Gastrointestinal Oncologist in the UAE. His achievements include his recognition as the first UAE national to be trained in palliative care. His practice focuses on all solid tumors, including complex cancer cases: breast cancer, colon cancer, gastric cancer, hepatobiliary cancers, lung cancer, thyroid cancer, head and neck cancer, sarcoma, and gynecological cancers. Ali Iyoob Valiyaveettil

Dr. Ali Iyoob has been trained in prestigious institutions in India, UK and Japan with an experience spanning more than 23 years in General Surgery and 16 years exclusively in gastro-intestinal and hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. Proficient in advanced minimal access surgery laparoscopic and robotic, Dr. Ali Iyoob is one of the pioneers in key-hole surgery of esophagus and the first to perform advanced robotic surgery in Kerala, India. One of the most sought-after surgeons in Abu Dhabi for expertise in the respective field, Dr. Ali has performed many challenging surgeries. Neil Arun Nijhawan

Dr. Neil Arun Nijhawan is a UK-trained Consultant in Palliative Medicine at Burjeel Medical City. After medical school at Kings College London, he pursued specialty training in palliative medicine in London and previously worked as a Consultant in Palliative Medicine at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in the London, where he was Clinical Lead for Palliative Medicine. He has over 10 years of clinical experience in palliative medicine. Dr. Nijhawan is the first licensed Palliative Care Physician in Abu Dhabi and is licensed to practice all aspects of palliative medicine. He strongly believes that for all patients, if one’s symptoms are well controlled, they will feel better, and both the patient and their family will tolerate their medical treatments better. Dr. Nijhawan’s ethos is to treat every patient like family and believes that there is always something that we can do to help make people feel better. The overarching aim of Palliative Care is to improve the quality of life of patients through diligent and thorough assessment and treatment of both physical and psychological symptoms. Patients do not exist in isolation and therefore supporting the family is an essential component of the palliative care approach to care. Rishikesh Ramesh Pandya

Dr. Rishikesh Ramesh Pandya has more than seven years of experience working as a Consultant and Head of Urology/Uro-Oncology at a private hospital in Abu Dhabi before joining Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi. He has a total of 19 years of urological experience. His primary areas of interest are prostate diseases, uro-oncology (urinary system cancers), and laparoscopic urological and reconstructive surgery. He treats urinary stones using a wide range of minimally invasive surgical procedures such as percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) and ureteroscopy (flexible and rigid). He obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Mumbai. He earned a Fellowship in uro-oncology from the University of Toronto in Canada, where he spent four years enhancing his clinical and surgical skills in uro-oncology. Dr. Rishikesh completed his Fellowship in laparoscopic urology at the Elizabethan Hospital in Linz, Austria, where he gained expert surgical skills in laparoscopic technique for urological diseases such as prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers, as well as five years of international work experience in advanced uro-oncology and laparoscopic/robotic urology surgeries in countries such as Canada, Austria, and the United States of America. In Accra, Ghana, he established a program for laparoscopic prostatectomies (West Africa). Dr. Rishikesh received his Certification as a Robotic Urological Surgeon in 2013 from Roswell Park Cancer Center in Buffalo, New York. Essam Elgamal

Dr. Essam Elgamal is a Senior Consultant Neuro Surgeon with a broad experience in adult and pediatric brain and spinal cord surgery over 35 years. He is a UK intercollegiate board certified in Neurosurgery. He is trained in Bristol and Oxford in UK and Alexandria, Egypt. He worked in a leading post at Oxford University Hospital, King Saud University Medical City, and was the Chairman of the Neurosurgery unit at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City – Abu Dhabi, where he established the first Pediatric Neurosurgery unit in the UAE. He is specialized in navigation-guided brain tumor surgery for adults and children, complex hydrocephalus and neuro-endoscopy, Spina bifida, and spinal cord tumors.
