Dr. Mustafa Abbas has is a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Interventional Radiologist who joined Burjeel Medical City. He brings with him an impressive array of qualifications and certifications, including the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) obtained in October 2022. He also holds a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Interventional Radiology, received in August 2020. Dr. Abbas has is skilled in a wide range of interventional radiology procedures. His expertise encompasses emergency and elective vascular procedures such as embolization for trauma, gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, and bronchial bleeding. He is proficient in peripheral angioplasty and stenting for peripheral vascular disease, as well as fistula works, including angioplasty, stenting, and declotting. Additionally, he is experienced in deep vein thrombosis (DVT) thrombolysis and declotting, IVC filter insertion and retrieval, and central venous access procedures like Porta Cath, Hickman lines, and PICC lines insertion. His expertise extends to various aortic procedures, including TEVAR (thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair), EVAR (endovascular aneurysm repair), and CERAB (chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency angioplasty and stenting). Dr. Abbas as is also skilled in mesenteric and renal artery stenting, pulmonary artery angiogram and thrombolysis, TIPS (transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt) placement, and trans jugular liver biopsy. He has experience in procedures such as uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), varicocele embolization, pelvic venous congestion treatment, varicose vein treatment, PAVM (pulmonary arteriovenous malformation) treatment, and TACE (transarterial chemoembolization). Furthermore, he has some experience with carotid artery stenting. Before joining Burjeel, he worked as Vascular Interventional Radiology Consultant at STH and was an IR fellow Sheffield teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust(STH). Apart from vascular work, Dr. Abbas also has proficiency in non-vascular procedures, including imaging-guided biopsies and drainage. He is skilled in percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography (PTC), gastrostomy, as well as esophageal, duodenal, and colonic stenting. He has expertise in performing nephrostomy, cystostomy, and ureteric stenting procedures. Furthermore, he is experienced in diagnostic OGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy). 

Dr. Priya Ishwar has more than seven years of experience and has expertise in general surgery, obstetrics, pediatric anesthesia, trauma, and intensive care unit, with a particular interest in neuro-anesthesia. Her other interests include complex airway management, labor/epidural anesthesia, general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, low-flow anesthesia, and pediatric surgery. Doctor Dawood holds an MBBS degree and experience of 4 years as an attending doctor in the Cardiology department. He has supported and attended various urological procedures. and addressed the issues of passing the nasogastric tube in patients, pleurocentesis, abdominocentesis, debridement and dressing of wounds as well as the skin closure procedures under supervision. He is HAAD qualified and received special awards at the SDYU School of Medicine and the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, Pakistan.

Dr. King Jee Dhar has joined Burjeel Medical City, Abu Dhabi as a Specialist in Anesthesia. He holds a comprehensive educational background, having successfully completed his MBBS and MD degrees from prestigious institutions in India. In addition to his primary qualifications, he has pursued further specialization by obtaining certifications in DNB (Diploma of National Board), EDAIC (European Diploma of Anesthesia and Intensive Care), and FRCA (Fellow of the Royal College of Anesthesia). Before joining Burjeel, Dr. King Dhar worked as a Specialist in Anesthesia, in Abu Dhabi and as a Specialist in Anesthesiology at International Modern Hospital in Dubai. He possesses extensive expertise in trauma, obstetrics, ICU, neuro anesthesia, pediatrics, and general theaters. Dr. Panagiotis Kalogiannidis has joined Burjeel Medical City as Specialist Clinical Hematology in the Adult Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant department. He has 25 years of experience, mainly in the field of malignant hematological diseases and their treatment with conventional chemotherapy and cellular therapies, including hemopoietic stem cell transplantation. Since 1998 he has been actively involved in more than 2000 hematopoietic stem cell transplants (autologous and allogeneic) from any source of hematopoietic cells (bone marrow, peripheral blood, and umbilical cord blood). In 2012-2013 he was trained in cellular therapies with chimeric antigen receptors T cells (CAR T-cells) and specific T-cells against viral infections and relapse post allogeneic stem cell transplantation. His Expertise and areas of interest include diagnosis and treatment of malignant hematological diseases, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, post-transplantation complications (Graft vs. Host disease, infections, relapsed disease), cellular therapies, and immunotherapy for malignant hematological diseases. Dr. Kalogiannidis has held a senior Consultant Hematologist position at the Department of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit at the “G. Papanicolaou” General Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece, from 1998-2014 and as a senior Consultant Hematologist at the Adult Oncology/Hematology and SCT department at King Fahad Specialist Hospital-Dammam, S. Arabia from  June 2014-  March 2023. Dr. Ujjwal Deshmukh has more than 12 years of experience in the field of critical care medicine. He has completed his MBBS and MD from a reputed medical college from Pune India (BJ Medical college). He has pursued Diploma in critical care medicine followed by fellowship in critical medicine from quaternary care center from Pune ( Apollo hospital). He was a postgraduate teacher for DNB programme in India and have trained many students in the field of critical care medicine. He holds a considerable experience in ECMO for both VVECMO and VAECMO. He has experience in managing solid organ transplant patients in ICU including Liver, Renal and Uterine transplant. He was a team member of India’s first uterine transplant program and till date completed 8 transplants. He is an ACLS instructor since 2016. He is expert in managing all the invasive and non-invasive procedures to be done in ICU. He has worked as Specialist in critical care medicine in Quaternary centre in Pune, India.

Dr. Yassmin Mesalam Bendary Moustafa has more than 14 years of experience and has worked in well-reputed organizations in the United Arab Emirates prior to joining Burjeel. Horace Roman is surgeon of endometriosis at Institut Franco-Européen Muntidisciplinaire d’Endométriose (IFEMEndo, Franco-European Multidisciplinary Institute for Endometriosis) in Bordeaux, France and Honorary Professor at Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark. He is a former Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Rouen Medical University in France. He is one of the rare surgeons worldwide whose surgical activity has been exclusively reserved for endometriosis for more than ten years. His practice and clinical research focus on the surgical management of patients with deep endometriosis. He has published more than 190 scientific articles related to various surgical approaches and the probability of postoperative natural conception following surgery for deep and ovarian endometriosis. Since 2005, he has managed more than 1,400 patients with deep endometriosis infiltrating the digestive tract, more than 250 with endometriosis of the urinary tract, more than 120 with involvement of sacral plexus or sciatic nerves, and 70 with endometriosis of the diaphragm. He privileges conservative procedures in deep endometriosis of the rectum and performed more than 450 rectal disc excisions. His approach to ovarian endometriomas is based on the ablation of the cyst’s inner surface using plasma energy to preserve ovarian parenchyma and ovarian reserve. He performed the ENDORE, the unique randomized trial comparing radical and conservative surgery for colorectal endometriosis. He was conducting the MESURE randomized trial comparing medical and surgical management for rectal endometriosis. He edited the EFFORT randomized trial protocol comparing first-line surgery to first-line IVF in women with colorectal endometriosis and pregnancy intention. He is a member of the boards of the European Endometriosis League, the World Endometriosis Society, and the French Society of Gynecologic and Pelvic Surgery. He is responsible for the Surgical Task Force of the Society of Endometriosis and Uterine Diseases. He founded with Dr. Benjamin Merlot and Dr. Isabella Chanavaz-Lacheray the IFEMEndo in Bordeaux, among the 2 European centers with the highest surgical volume for complex endometriosis. He recently founded with Dr. Monica Chauhan, Dr. Sandesh Kade, and Dr. Benjamin Merlot the IFEMEndo-Middle East Clinic, a Burjeel Holdings Company, in Abu Dhabi, a department exclusively dedicated to the management of severe endometriosis. He is certified Master Surgeon in Multidisciplinary Endometriosis Care, and IFEMEndo was certified Center of Excellence in Multidisciplinary Endometriosis Care (COEMEC, 2019-2026). He exclusively performs minimally invasive surgery by laparoscopy with or without robotic assistance (One open surgery from 2018 to 2023).
