Mohamed Atef Elzoghby

Dr. Mohamed Atef Elzoghby graduated from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, with Bachelor’s degree of Medicine and Surgery (MBBCh) in December 2000 with Honors. He then he completed his Neurosurgical residency at Ain Shams University Hospital, a well-constructed general Neurosurgery practice followed by higher surgical training including rotations in different subspecialties and was awarded Master’s degree of Surgery in 2005. Being one of the best residents, Dr. Zoghby was awarded a clinical-research Fellowship in the University of Virginia, USA, 2008-2010, fully funded by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities, for the fulfillment of his Doctorate degree Thesis. During that time, he joined the neuroendocrine and skull base division under supervision of two of the pioneers in pituitary surgery, Prof. John Jane Jr., and Prof. Edward Oldfield. He then returned to Egypt, passed his board exams, and got his doctorate degree, top of his class in 2011. Dr. Zoghby is currently an Associate Professor in Ain Shams University, Cairo Egypt, he is one of the well-known Neurosurgeons in Egypt, he subspecializes in neuroendoscopy, pituitary, skull base surgery. He has also introduced intraoperative ultrasound guided tumor resection upon his return from USA. He actively participated in multiple local, regional, and international conferences and has numerous publications in highly reputable scientific journals. Dr. Mohamed Elzoghby has overall 20 years of work experience in the field of neurosurgery with special expertise in pituitary surgery and neuro-oncology. For the last 3 years he practiced in a high-ranking private hospital in Jeddah, KSA and in Tawam Hospital, Al Ain, UAE. He is a licensed Neurosurgery Consultant in Egypt, KSA and UAE. Recently, he joined the Burjeel Holdings and is currently practicing as Consultant of Neurosurgery, at Burjeel Medical City, Abu Dhabi.

Kesava Ananth Ramakrishnan

Dr. Kesava is a Pediatric Intensivist with more than 20 years of experience in pediatric critical care. After completing the basic specialist training in Pediatrics in India, he pursued higher specialist training in pediatric critical care medicine in the UK and Australia. Following which, he worked in a tertiary care university hospital as a consultant in PICU for 8 years before moving to UAE. In the UAE, he worked as head of cardiac PICU in Sheikh Khalifa Medical City for 4 and half years before moving to Burjeel Medical City. He is passionate about patient safety, quality of care, training/education of staff and efficiency of the service. He has implemented the following projects in the previous four years:

  • Benchmarking cardiac surgical outcomes
  • Admission policy incorporating risk stratification that has cut down the delay in admission of children with critical congenital heart disease
  • Early extubating policy
  • Rational chest drain removal policy
  • Bundle for reduction in PCICU LOS

In the UK he was part of a dynamic team, which achieved high patient satisfaction and outcome despite expansion of service from 600 admission to over a 1000 admissions per year. He was a Lead Consultant for clinical practice development and research within the team. Under his leadership, the team participated in many multicentre trials including CHIP, STePS, CATCH, THAPCA and ADAPT. Dr. Kesava is competent in managing critically ill children from any cause. He has special expertise in postoperative care of children particularly in the area of congenital cardiac surgery. He is an expert in mechanical ventilation, renal replacement therapy and procedures such as central line insertion etc. He is also proficient in management of children on VA and VV ECMO.

Iviano Rudolph Ossuetta

Dr. Iviano gained his MBBS qualification in medicine from Nigeria and pursued higher studies with specialized training in advanced areas of neonatology in the UK. He commenced his consultant career focusing on congenital heart disease, respiratory, nutrition and developmental /family centered care of the newborn. Over the 18 years of his consultant career, he has worked consistently in the industry’s largest multi-disciplinary, tertiary hospital environments and led teams of specialists attending to sensitive pediatric cases and babies of 23 weeks and above with medical and surgical complications. As Lead Consultant for the Nutrition Team, he also put in place guidelines for consultants, nurses, and pharmacists in the neonatal unit, to ensure standardized, evidence based nutritional practice within the department. Taking up his position as Director of Neonatology Services for Burjeel Holdings, UAE and Consultant in Neonatal Medicine at Burjeel Medical City Abu Dhabi, Dr. Iviano brings valuable expertise and experience of managing perinatal networks and Level-3 neonatal unit. He has experience with multidisciplinary engagement across a wide range of perinatal and pediatric specialties including neonatal surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, neurosurgery, and ophthalmology. Dr. Iviano has participated in several national and international seminars, conferences and panel discussions and presents his papers and expert opinions in neonatology and pediatrics. He has undertaken neonatal research work in monitoring of metabolic bone disease and treatment and participated in a randomized controlled trial of early insulin therapy in very low birth weight Infants. His other studies include predicting the development of clinically significant patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) and sepsis in babies born early.

Ritu Nambiar

Dr. Ritu Nambiar is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology with 31 years of experience. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Medicine from Madras University, Chennai, India. On successfully qualifying for the United States Medical Licensing Examination, she further pursued MD in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai, India. She is a Diplomate of National Board of India in Obstetrics and Gynecology and was awarded Fellowship of National Board of Exams with two years exclusive training in ART/Endoscopy. Dr. Ritu is a Member of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Nambiar began her career as a Medical Officer at MES Medical Mission Hospital, Rural Wayanad, Kerala, India. Before moving to UAE, she worked in well-known hospitals in India and Saudi Arabia as Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology and as a Consultant in Reproductive Medicine. In 2009, she moved to UAE, where she had the opportunity to practice in renowned hospitals including Al Rabha Hospital, Ruwais Hospital ADNOC and NMC Royal Hospital. Dr. Ritu is highly skilled in independently managing major and minor obstetrics and gynecological procedures, operative hysteroscopy and laparoscopy, cervical cancer screening with colposcopy and procedures, transvaginal endosonographic, and comprehensive couple management of infertility. Dr. Ritu has been well-recognized for her work at the hospitals wherever she worked. She has presented various papers and attended workshops as part of self-development of technical knowledge and skills.

Tahir Mirza

Dr. Tahir Mirza is a highly qualified UK-trained Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with over ten years of experience in his specialty. He attained his medical and dental degrees from the prestigious King’s College London before further training in Otolaryngology and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Having completed higher OMFS training, he attained a UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and FRCS (OMFS). He then sought further sub-specialty experience in areas of interest such as microvascular reconstruction, orthognathic, and sleep apnea surgery from world-renowned experts in Europe, the USA, and Taiwan. He has expertise in a wide range of surgeries related to the head & neck, specifically oral cancer with microvascular reconstruction, benign and malignant salivary surgery, facial trauma, and orthognathic and sleeps apnea surgeries. He is extremely proficient in complex dental extractions, the management of oral lesions, cysts, and masses, as well as sinus/bone augmentation and dental implant placement. He has provided his expertise at several leading hospitals in the UK for over a decade before relocating to The Middle East and joining Burjeel Holdings. He has undertaken several additional qualifications during his career, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education, and teaches various national and regional courses in the UK. He also regularly attends international conferences and specialized training courses to keep his knowledge up to date. He is well-published in the medical literature and is a reviewer for the British Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He has also recently co-authored a book chapter in a leading international otolaryngology textbook.

Ramamurthy Baskaran

Dr. Ramamurthy is a skilled anesthesiologist with more than 17 years of post-qualification experience in transplant anesthesia (liver and kidney), HPB surgery, trauma, oncology, bariatric, obstetrics, orthopedics, robotic, and GI surgery. He is well-versed and experienced in neonatal and pediatric anesthesia and advanced ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia. After receiving his MBBS from Kilpauk Medical College in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, he completed his anesthesia training at King George Medical University in Lucknow, India. He continued his career advancement in the UK by joining the West Yorkshire Anesthesia Rotation in Leeds, which led to his Fellow of the Royal College of Anesthetists and a certificate of completion of training in Anesthesia. During his final years of training, he was heavily involved in upper GI, HPB, transplant anesthesia, and critical care. He returned to India and worked at Global Hospitals and Aster DM Healthcare in Bengaluru, where he managed hundreds of kidney and liver transplants with a multidisciplinary team. He has extensive experience managing cadaveric and living donor kidney and liver transplants. His most recent position was as Consultant Anesthesiologist at NMC Royal Hospital, Khalifa City, an active tertiary care hospital in Abu Dhabi that provides anesthesia to all surgical subspecialties.

Mohamed Mourad

Dr. Mourad has 18 years of anesthetic experience in a diversity of hospitals. He has published and presented at both national and international levels. Qualified in 2001, MBBCh. Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt. Excellent Hon. After residency training in university hospitals, I got an MSc. degree in 2006 and qualified as a staff member in the anesthesia department of the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. He got MDs in Anaesthesia, ICU, and Pain Management. Cairo, Egypt, 2011 and registered as a Consultant Anaesthetist. He worked at King Hamad University Hospital, Bahrain, for five years. He got a European Diploma in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in London in 2015. He earned a Fellowship from the College of Anaesthetists of Ireland, Dublin, in 2016. He worked in Ireland at the University Hospital of Limerick and Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin, Dublin. Ghulam Mujtaba

Dr. Mujtaba is a Consultant Pediatric Pulmonologist with 20 years of experience in pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology with various prestigious institutions in the NHS UK and Health Service Executive (HSE), Ireland. Before joining Burjeel Medical City, Dr. Mujtaba served as a Consultant Pediatric Pulmonologist at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, where he was clinical lead (HOD). Dr. Mujtaba is committed to providing a high-quality clinical and academic service for respiratory pediatrics to all who attend our service for investigation, care, and management. Dr. Mujtaba developed various guidelines both for cystic fibrosis and respiratory service. He has presented at European Respiratory and Cystic Fibrosis Conferences and participated in national and international clinical trials in the UK and Ireland as Principal Investigator and Co-investigator. Dr. Mujtaba has been an invited speaker at regional, national, and international conferences. He was a clinical and educational supervisor for pediatric and respiratory trainees in the UK. Dr. Mujtaba has also been an honorary clinical lecturer and academic advisor for medical students at the University of Manchester. 

Hassan Jaafar

Dr. Hassan Jaafar is a Consultant Medical Oncologist with more than 25 years of professional experience. He commenced his career in Internal Medicine in 1994 and qualified in oncology/hematology in the year 2000 from the American University of Beirut Medical Centre. Later that year, Dr. Jaafar relocated to the UAE and joined Tawam Hospital, a 500+ bed, tertiary-care hospital, affiliated with the reputed Johns Hopkins University Hospital in the USA. During that time, he served as an adjunct Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the College of Medicine and Health – UAEU. He later relocated to Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital (SKSH) operated by Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) in Ras-Al-Khaimah. With his arrival to BMC as a Consultant Medical Oncologist, Dr. Jaafar moves up yet another notch in his career to be rated as one of the frontline oncologists and cancer research specialists in the UAE region. Major areas of clinical and research interest include breast cancer and gynecological cancers, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, sarcomas, and other solid tumors.
